The English Toy Spaniel, King Charles Spaniel, or as doglovers call them: „Charlies“ have always fascinated us. Even before I met Klaus I had had Cavalier King Charles Spaniels living with my family for more than 30 years. As a teenager I decided that I dreamt of establishing these two royal breeds in Germany with my own breeding. Some dreams come true, and so first I was able to start my Cavalier King Charles breeding programme under the prefix Bonitos Companeros. By coincidence I met Klaus and we found that we shared the same common vision. It didn’t take long an we decided that we would follow our calling together and breed Cavaliers and King Charles spaniel, and so we are launching our new King Charles breeding programme under the prefix:Bonitos Companeros Deluxe.
We have given ourselves the mission of securing this breed in our modern times.
The King Charles Spaniel is a very old breed, which has endured from the early middle ages through to the present day. Unfortunately the breed is little known, and only few know the advantages that these little Spaniels have. In Germany this old royal breed is facing extinction. According to the annual statistics of the German Kennel Club (VDH/FCI), on average no more than 20 puppies have been born per year over the last few years. This is clearly too few in order to maintain this breed in Germany. To combat this we have started to build an international network of highly motivated breeders, who are all working to secure this breed.
The start is done, and we invite you surf through the pages of our site Bonitos Companeros Deluxe and to rediscover the King Charles Spaniel breed for yourselves.
